Nebbiolo is a red grape variety associated with the Piedmont region. The grapes produce lightly-colored red wines that can be tannic when young. As they age the wines become brick-orange hue at the rim of the glass. They also mature from scents of tar and roses to other aromas and flavors such as violets, raspberries, tobacco, wild herbs, cherries, and prunes. Some people would characterize Nebbiolos as similar to Pinot Noir.
